Let's talk about a topic on everyone's mind: spring. Can you believe it's March already? It seems like just yesterday I was running around like a chicken with its head cut off {not really}, doing last-minute wedding preparations {we got married in November}. And now it's March! Although it's still too cold to be baring your legs around here, things are definitely heating up with the occasional sunny {sometimes even warm!} day. And I don't know about you, but I am getting so tired of the winter wardrobe. I need color, sexy sheer fabrics and strappy heels back in my life!
This spring you'll have no problem rocking the latest SS13 trends because chances are, you already own quite a few of these items. Continuing my post series 10 Ways to Style a Sequin Skirt, I've paired the lovely mini with a tangerine red chiffon top. If you follow runway trends, you probably remember seeing sheer fabrics at Diane von Furstenberg, Preen, Stella McCartney, Christopher Kane and many other collections. Chiffon is the perfect material because it still adds the light, airy, transparent feel to your outfit without being too revealing. If you know me, you know that I like texture. So here I've paired the modest version of this revealing trend with a sequin skirt, chunky knit, skinny metallic belt {another SS13 trend!} in a contrasting color and leather heels.
How will you be rocking the sheer trend this spring?

I love that sweater!! And this outfit is killer!

DeleteLovely skirt! Love it!
ReplyDeleteThank you Mira!
DeleteThis is brilliant. I just found your blog, and I absolutely adore this 10 ways to wear a sequin skirt series - largely because it's such a seemingly one-time piece.
ReplyDeletePairing it with a chunky knit is mind-bogglingly simple, but SO PERFECT> I dont know how I didn't think to do this in the past. I always talk about ways to "Earthify" something, and this is totally doing just that. It's taking the skirt from flashy to everyday, and I just love it.
Tucking your shirt in is another great way to play with styling options.
Great series, great blog.
Plus, you're so fricken pretty.

DeleteFantastic outfit, I really love how bright and fun it is, massive fan. You are truly bringing sequins back into the equation (I have always been a massive fan of sequins ever since my jazz ballet days when I was dressed as a piece of coral with sequin arms - yes coral - was so jealous of all the mermaids in my performance).
ReplyDeleteWow that was off topic. Really love it though!

Sounds like the coral incident really traumatized you, Alyssa! :) I guess you'll have to buy a couple more sequin pieces to make up for it! ;)
DeleteThanks for your sweet comment on my blog, lady!! We can totally be blog buds! Loving the sequins. If you can believe it, I don't own a sequin skirt. That is NUTZZZZ.
ReplyDeleteAnd congrats on the new marriage!!

ReplyDeleteThanks Tessa! I hate, hate, hate having something on my legs, be it hose, socks, whatever. So bare legs are quite alright in my book! ;)

ReplyDeleteThank you Morwen!

DeleteGreat look! I love the fun layers & fabrics, really eye-catching
ReplyDeleteThanks dear. Other than the interplay of mixtures, I think the color combo of tango red and electric blue is one of my favorites and the major factor that makes this outfit pop!
